Let me tell you something real quick.  When I first entered the U.S. Army, after Basic Training, AIT (Advanced Individual Training) and Jump School, I ended up in the Airborne Infantry out of Fort Bragg, NC.  Airborne Infantry was the most MISERABLE job I ever had (except for U.S. Army Special Forces – keep reading).  It was KICKING MY ASS!  The U.S. Army SUCKED!  The Infantry SUCKED!  And jumping out of Hercules C-130 airplanes, weighted down with all that gear at one o’clock in the morning at almost freezing temperatures really SUCKED!

Till one day, my Platoon Sergeant (Vietnam Vet – 173rd Airborne) called me into the CP (Command Post) on the 3rd floor.  I thought he was going to kick my ass and I surely deserved it.  He gave me a good talking to.  My Platoon Sergeant, HE SAW SOMETHING IN ME THAT I DIDN’T SEE IN MYSELF!!

I walked out of that CP and I started to soldier, starting from learning how to spit shine my Cochran Jump Books, shining-up my combat boots, break starch and I started being an asset to the infantry platoon instead of a piece of shit ragbag and a duffle bag.  I VOLUNTEERED for everything from making extra jumps (see AWADS below) to work details and military schools .

My Platoon Sergeant believed in me and I started believing in myself.

And I annotated everything in my book below with over a 100+ peace time and combat stories that are down to Earth and NOT embellished into an almost fantasy-like Hollywood stories.
