08 Emergency Survival Signals To Attract Rescuers!
In this blog post are ’08 emergency survival signals to attract rescuers.’ As many as these signals should be used. Before you go out on any outdoor adventure, seriously communicate (SIGNAL) the following to family members and/or friends:
–
–
Where exactly are you going: Tell your family and friends exactly where you are going with an exact route. Your day by day route schedule using a real topographic map with exact 08-digit grid coordinates or Geographical Coordinates (Latitude, Longitude – Degrees, Minutes & Seconds) with a terrain feature (hill tops, trail intersections, river bends, saddles, knolls, ridges, valleys,…). You have a map and one or more maps are left behind with your family and friends. See www.survivalexpertbooks.com/navigation

Establish Communications: NEVER NEVER NEVER, one more time, NEVER venture outdoors by yourself. You and your friend(s) should carry long-range walkie-talkies with you in case you’re are deliberately or are accidently separated. Establish communications with family and friends back home using a cell phone(s). If cell phones won’t work, invest in a set of satellite phones. And ALWAYS ALWAYS carry extra batteries for all communication devices. Make sure your communication devices work and you can communicate with each other before you depart on your outdoor adventure.
Now that you used one of your communication devices to call in a rescue party, let’s talk about some field-expedient signaling techniques you’ll want to know about to ATTRACT the rescue party.
There are several ways in which to signal for help. The materials available and your situation will decide which method is practical and successful. The following are techniques and considerations for signaling.
- Fire Platform
- Smoke Platform
- Mirrors Or Shiny Objects
- Flashlight
- Natural Materials Signaling
- Whistle
- High Tech Signal Devices
- Worldwide Emergency Phone
01) Fire Platform. During darkness, an international distress signal may easily attract a search party. Especially a search party by air. The international distress signal which is a triangle formation should be set up in an open area.
a) Build three fire pits or 06-foot high tripod stands with a center platform to contain the tinder, kindling, and sustaining fuel. The three fire pits or platforms are set up in a triangle and are twenty-five meters apart.
b) The three fire pits or platforms should be protected from the elements at all times so that the fires can be started at any time of the day or night even during inclement weather.
–
02) Smoke Platform. During daylight hours, an international distress signal made up of fire may not be easily seen. So set up the fire pits or platforms as described on the previous page. Place an abundant amount of green vegetation next to each fire pit or platform. Once the fires are started and are burning well add the green vegetation so that the fire pits or platforms produce smoke and alert the search party.

03) Mirrors or Shiny Objects. Of the ’08 emergency survival signals to attract rescuers’ a simple small mirror can signal / ATTRACT the searching eyes of aircraft miles away. On a bright sunny day, a mirror or a shiny object can be used to signal a searching rescue party. By aiming the mirror or shiny object at a plane or ground party and making minute movements up, down, left, and right should attract the rescue party.
Mirror signals can be seen over seventy miles under normal conditions and over one-hundred miles in a desert environment. Most mirrors designed for signaling have directions for use – so read the directions!
Listen, you don’t have to have a fancy high-dollar signaling mirror. You can use just about any shiny object that reflects light. Try folding-up a sheet of aluminum foil and place it in your survival kit. That same section of aluminum can be used for other life-saving applications in a survival environment. USE your imagination – IMPROVISE, OVERCOME and ADAPT or DIE!!!

4) Flashlight. Of all the ’08 emergency survival signals to attract rescuers’ an S O S (Save Our Souls) is understood by all languages via a SIGNAL or the words ‘May Day.’ May Day actually means ‘help me in French.’ During hours of darkness, a flashlight can be seen at great distances. Aim the flashlight at the rescue party and attempt to signal them by making minute movements up, down, left, and right.
Try turning the flashlight on and off.
Use the flashlight to send an EMERGENCY SOS Morse code—
( S … O — S … )

05) Natural Materials Signaling. Of all the ’08 emergency survival signals to attract rescuers,’ the following ‘natural materials signaling’ are a set it up and forget it applications. Use natural materials like logs, branches, rocks, to form an ” SOS ” or other letters or words. Write letters or words in the ground to alert aircraft.
You can also ignite three bonfires during daylight hours so that the burning coals are seen at night!
–
06) Whistle. The sound of a whistle can be heard at great distances. Using this whistle on a scheduled basis, along with all your other survival priorities of work, will keep you busy (AVOID FEAR AND PANIC) and keep your hopes up for a rescue!
Insure you have a whistle in your survival kit! A real cheap whistle that can fit in your Film Canister Survival Kit is a .22 caliber casing after the bullet and powder have been removed. Just put it vertically to your bottom lip, form a small aperture with your lips and forcefully blow! Remember, you can use the gunpowder to start emergency fires!
–
07) High Tech Signal Devices. Folks use that formula PRSC that I talked about at the beginning of this Survival Expert Blog. Insure you have a good plan. Think of at least 12 things that will hurt you, kill you, property loss, breakdown… and counter them before you head out! Now that you got a good plan, think about the signaling aspect of it. There is nothing wrong with using high tech devices to insure you have a safe venture no matter what it is. Consider taking along a CB radio or even a cellular phone and don’t forget extra batteries or battery recharge systems.
Put a prepaid calling card or two in your wallet, purse, survival kit…
And don’t forget to tell somebody EXACTLY where you’re going and when you’ll get there! Set up a “scheduled contact plan”!
Get the idea! Use that brain matter and get a good plan implemented BEFORE you start any venture!

08) Worldwide Emergency Phone. Of all the ‘08 emergency survival signals to attract rescuers,’ a Worldwide Emergency Phone can be a real life-saver. If you venture anywhere on this planet, here’s a device that can literally reach out and literally call for help just about anywhere on the surface of this planet.
That life-saving device is a satellite phone, also called a ‘sat phone.’ Satellite phones don’t rely on cellular towers to transmit and receive. Satellite phones use orbiting satellites. As long as you’re on the surface of the Earth (water or ground), odds are real high you’ll connect to emergency services. You can’t say that with a cell phone.
The satellites around the Earth are low orbit satellites or geosynchronous orbit.

09) Worldwide Emergency Pinpoint Exact Location. If you made contact with emergency services, that’s great. But their first question is going to be – “Where are you?”
How would you like to know how to read any map anywhere on this Earth and be able to give exact pinpoint Military Coordinates or exact pinpoint Geographical (GEO) Coordinates (Latitude, Longitude – Degrees, Minutes & Seconds) anywhere on this Earth?
Before you depart on your outdoor adventure, give a copy of your map to a family member with exact pinpoint locations of your route and the dates you’ll be at each point. If something goes wrong during your adventure or you’re late coming home, the authorities will have exact pinpoint locations to look for you like right now.
Plus, if you need help, and use your satellite phone, you can give rescue authorities your exact pinpoint location. And they’ll reach you real quick instead of spending days & weeks looking for you and those under your care.
I have a home study course you ought to take a look at. It’s GUARANTEED to teach you EVERYTHING when it comes to reading maps and plotting Military Coordinates and GEO Coordinates anywhere on this Earth. And using a map on all your outdoor adventures could help you AVOID survival threats and your map could SAVE YOUR LIFE and those under your care.
