Here’s a job that pays some good money and most folks have no idea that this job is out there waiting for them.  Here’s the INSIDE SCOOP for this highly paid security guard job.

I used to do contract security work for Homeland Security in Saint Louis, MO.  I WAS NOT a Federal employee.  I was doing contract security work as Protective Security Office [PSO] (high payed security guard).

I resigned my position on February 2014.  Back then I was making $29 bucks and some change per hour.  This $29 dollars plus, includes base pay, clothing allowance (maintain your 04 uniforms) and health & welfare (buy your own health insurance).  Even now a days, $29 bucks an hour isn’t bad.  I bet they’re making $32+ an hour.

At my bid post I was only working back-to-back 02 12-hour shifts followed by an 08-hour shift.  That’s 32-hours a week.  After taxes, I was bringing home $3,000.00 a month.  Not bad for working only 03-days a week and having 04-days off!!!

Most PSOs work at least 40-hours a week.  The new guys are bounced around all the sites throughout the Saint Louis area and are on-call.  The new guys make real good money and most will eventually win a bid somewhere on the contract after their 90-day probation period.

PLUS, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) security jobs come up each year and volunteer PSOs are deployed to those areas and they work 12 on 12 off shifts and make a lot of money while deployed to the FEMA sites.  I’ve seen PSOs come back and buy cars and motorcycles – cash.

Most regular security guard jobs don’t even pay half of what I was making.  So seriously consider a PSO job in your area.

To start to qualify for a Homeland PSO, you must:

  • Complete 01-month of training
  • Pass intial backgroung check
  • Pass Drug Test
  • Pass Physical Exam
  • Pass Physical Stress Tests
  • Pass Marksmanship Pistol Test
  • Pass CPR / First-Aid Test
  • Pass X-Ray Machine Test
  • Pass Federal Written Test
  • Pass Baton & Handcuff Training
  • Pass Mace Training
  • Complete Federal Background Paperwork
  • Pass 90-Day Probation Period

There are always periodic inspections of the PSOs while he / she is working by a Quality Control Officer.

Each Post is different and the new PSOs eventually learn the ins and outs of each Post.

The job IS NOT labor intensive at all.

The main job of the PSO is to PROTECT the Federal site and its employees & visitors by following their Post Orders for that specific Post he / she is working.

There are THOUSANDS of PSO jobs across the country.  Odds are, if there is a Federal Building in your area (Post Office not included), it’s secured by Homeland Security PSOs.

If you’re interested in a PSO job, go to that Federal Building and simply ask one of the PSOs on duty for the name, phone number and address of their Project Manager.  Then write-up a good resume.

When you go for your initial interview with your resume, dress like you’re going to a formal affair (coat & tie) and have a good short haircut (males) and cut-down on that handle bars mustache and have a clean-shaven face of course.

The contract I was working, they had a very strong Union.  The new guys in training for a month, were paid FULL wages instead of minimum wage.  I hope this info helps you out if you’re interested in a good paying security job for Homeland Security.

Plus being a PSO could be a step towards to Federal jobs.  I’ve known PSOs go onward to jobs like Federal Protective Officers, FBI Agent, US Marshall, US Mapping Agency,…

WAIT!!!  I got an amazing true story for you.  See the next blog post –
