Jello For Weight-Loss!

Since it’s July and it’s hot and humid, the last ‘Special Diet’ I want to give you is the Jello Diet!  It’s easy to make, delicious and cold to cool you down.  OK, let’s start with who invented Jello.

Jello Invention

Jello was invented 125-years ago.  A patent was established in 1897 by Pearl Wait.

Jello Main Ingredient

The main ingredient in Jello is gelatin.  When hot water is added to the Jello powder, the powder & hot water liquifies into a gelatin, a tasty dessert of various flavors once it’s refrigerated for a few hours.  Jello also comes in Sugar-Free Jello.

Jello For Weight-Loss

While serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Davis, Panama, I was told one diet aid used under the care of a physician is Jello!  Yes, Jello.  Overweight GIs (soldiers) would eat Jello to lose weight!  Why does it work?

Jello is mostly water and water has NO FAT and NO CARBOHYDRATES, – it’s mostly water.  The overweight GIs could eat as much Jello as they wanted but were not allowed regular meals.  Try NO SUGAR Jello to help you lose weight.

If the GIs failed meet the Height & Weight Standards, within a prescribed time, they faced an immediate Discharge from the military.

Jello With Fruit

I’ve (author) made plenty of sugar-free Jello cups with fruit.  Primarily with peaches, cherries and both.  I’d make the sugar-free Jello and pour it into cups.  I’d put em’ all in the fridge for a few hours to ‘solidify’ the Jello.

I’d make more sugar-free Jello.  I’d add the fruit to each cup and then add more liquid sugar-free Jello.  The cups are placed back in the fridge and in a few hours they’re ready.

You can make 03 and 04 layers of sugar-free Jello and fruit of your choice.

1st Note:  YOU MUST DRAIN ALL WATER, every drop, from the fruit before adding it to the top layer of Jello.  If not, the finished Jello will have a pocket of water where the fruit is located.  I drain the water from the fruit for 45-minutes and then dry it with a double-layered paper towel.

2nd Note:  I can’t tell the difference in taste between regular Jello and sugar-free Jello except when adding fruit.
