Being a 20-year U.S. Army military veteran (see About The Author), I want to give insights on how to Make the U.S. Army Great Again. Maybe some soldiers with a lot of rank, some pull, and some balls will show this website to high-ranking military folks, Secretary of Defense – Peter Brian Hegseth and even President Donald J. Trump himself, that have the authority to make changes and MAGA.
–
Here are the points I’m going to cover:
- Bring Back The ‘Shark Attack’
- Recondo Schools on all major Army bases
- Bring Back the 02-Year Enlistment
- Beef-Up Recruitment
- Yearly Pay Bonuses
- Fat Boy Program
- Mess Halls
- Fix The QMP
- Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
- Open Door Counseling
- ????????????????
–
–
OK, let’s start with Bring Back The ‘Shark Attack’
–
–
The Shark Attack!
–
On 20 September 2020, the headline read: “No More Drill Sergeant ‘Shark Attack’: Army Moves Toward Kinder Basic Training Start.” The U.S. Army decided to delete the Shark Attack from Army Basic Training. First, bring the General that authorized this and give him my home address and I’ll put a ‘boot up his ass.’ I’ll give him a ‘Kiwi Express’ myself. When you baby recruits and pass them through Basic Training, AIT,… you’re filling the Army ranks with softer, gentler – ‘get everybody killed’ soldiers. Yes, I’ll still call them soldiers but not my kind of soldier.
–
Bring back the ‘Shark Attack’ in:
- Basic Training
- Advanced Individual Training (AIT)
- Jump School
- Ranger School (City Week – Morgan Committee)
- Special Forces Assessment and Selection
–
The ‘Shark Attack’ towards trainees, candidates, instills and enhances:
- Discipline
- Teamwork
- Esprit De Corps
- Attention To Detail
- Proficiency
- Bonding of Troops
- Leadership
- Morale
- Pride
Think of there was no ‘Shark Attack’ towards American recruits during World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, and Gulf Wars, I gotta tell you, there would have been a lot more American soldiers, airman, sailors and marines coming home in body bags.
So, Secretary of Defense – Peter Brian Hegseth or even President Donald J. Trump himself, bring back the ‘Shark Attack.’

Recondo School!
–
Recondo School is like a small U.S. Army Ranger School. When I was a know-nuthin Private in the 82nd Airborne, I was sent to the 03-week 82nd Airborne Recondo School. Being in the Infantry, even though my AIT was Infantry, I still didn’t know sh!+ from Shinola about Infantry. Well, that 03-week Recondo School fixed that problem. I attended a lot of training, a lot of schools during my 20-year military career, and the 82nd Airborne Recondo School will always stand-out in my training and memories.
And even though most MOSs (military jobs) in the Army have nothing to do with Infantry, the Recondo School still made you a better soldier, cause YOU JUST NEVER KNOW. Remember the very beginning of the Korean War? Both Chinese and North Koreans forces advancing southward, almost pushed the South Korean and American militaries into the ocean. EVERY AMERICAN dropped what they were doing and picked up a weapon, THEY WERE NOW IN THE INFANTRY!
The Recondo School would be run by ALL U.S. Army qualified Rangers who already earned the ‘Black and Gold.’ The Recondo School is a total of 21-days, with a basecamp in the woods on the military reservation. It would be open to all volunteers both officers and enlisted and both male and female. However, females would have their own Recondo School held once or twice a year depending on the number of volunteers. All Recondo candidtes are partly sterile and wear no rank.
Recondo Training includes:
- Shark Attacks
- Physical Training every morning
- Road Marches
- Night Road March
- Drill & Ceremonies
- Military History
- Basic Patrolling Classes
- Basic Map Reading
- Day Navigation (buddy system)
- Night Navigation (buddy system)
- Marksmanship Training (using the Laydon Technique)
- Radio Communication
- Basic Indirect Fire
- SERE Training
- 01-Day Daylight Patrol
- Refit – Rappelling Classes
- 02-Day Day & Night Patrols
- Refit – Heliborne Classes
- 03-Day Day & Night Patrols
- Refit – Knots & River Rope Bridges
- 04-Day Graded Day & Night Patrols
- Refit – Counseling
- Recondo Graduation Ceremonies (At Graduation Ceremonies, each Recondo Graduate will be issued a Recondo patch for their BDUs and Recondo colored patch for their Dress Uniform with Official Military Orders and a Recondo School Diploma). Top Recondo Graduates will also be offered a chance to attend U.S. Army Ranger School. But before you attend the U.S. Army Ranger School, YOU MUST READ about my (author) own experiences in my Survival Book below.
So, Secretary of Defense – Peter Brian Hegseth or even President Donald J. Trump himself, authorize 03-week Recondo Schools on all major military Army bases in the U.S. and abroad.

02-Year Enlistment!
–
In my humble opinion, the 02-Year Enlistment for recruits is actually a testing, a feeling-out period for recruits. And a small percentage of those recruits (10% – 20%), will actually:
- Re-enlist for the same MOS (job) for 03 or 04-years with or without a re-enlistment bonus.
- Join the National Guard
- Join the Reserves
But whether decide to re-enlist or not, they are a better more mature American citizen.
So, Secretary of Defense – Peter Brian Hegseth or even President Donald J. Trump himself, bring back the 02-Year Enlistment.
–
–
–
Beef-Up Recruitment!
–
Recruitment should be beefed-up in areas besides the recruiting stations. Valuable recruitment is being missed in:
- JROTC in High Schools
- SROTC in Colleges & Universities
- Military Academies
- West Point Academy
- Officer Basic Course
These areas are being missed for recruiting and are valuable sources for THOUSANDS of future extremely intelligent and mature Officers to MAGA!
–
Bring Back The Gabriel Teams!
Gabriel Teams were U.S. Army Special Forces A-Teams that put on ‘shows’ for dignitaries (domestic & allies), host fort civilians and any civilians, that wanted to see the ‘show.’ The Gabriel Teams demonstrated the capabilities of U.S. Army Special Forces A Teams like:
- Rappelling
- Hand-to-Hand Combat
- Language Skills
- HALO (skydiving)
- Static Line Parachuting
- Scuba
- Communications
- Demolitions
- Weapons
- Medical
- Fast Rope
- SERE (Survival Escape Resistance and Evasion)
- Patrolling
- Close Quarter Battle (CQB)
- Unconventional Warfare
- Direct Action
- Sniper Operations
- More…
The Gabriels Teams were no longer used starting back in the late 1980s. Why? I guess it was a budget thing. Gabriel Teams can be a great Recruitment Tool for Enlisted Soldiers and Officers. Gabriel Teams can travel off-post to high schools across the country.
So, Secretary of Defense – Peter Brian Hegseth or even President Donald J. Trump himself, beef-up the recruitment for future Enlisted Soldiers and Officers to MAGA!

Increase Jump Pay
I think the U.S. Army already beat me on this one. Jump Pay to all soldiers, marines, airmen, sailors should be increased by $50 per month. This increase in jump pay will obviously enhance retention and recruitment into all airborne units.
–
–
–
Yearly Pay Bonuses!
–
YES YES, I already know military personnel are already getting their:
- Basic Pay
- Separations Pay
- Overseas Pay
- Hazardous Duty Pay
- Jump Pay
- Flight Pay
- Diving Pay
- Foreign Language Pay
- Hostile Fire Pay
- OK, you got the idea.
–
If there is one thing that MOTIVATES a soldier besides a great delicious meal (keep reading), IT IS MONEY! I believe extra Yearly Bonus Pay should be going to those MOS (Military Occupation Specialties) that are instrumental in the:
- Morale
- Fighting Spirit
- Lethality
- Backbone
of the U.S. Army and to MAGA.
Give yearly bonuses to the soldiers that get sh!+ on the most like the combat arms soldiers. And when I’m talking Yearly Bonuses, I’m talking at least several hundred dollars. Soldiers who are in the units like:
- Delta Force —————————-$2,500
- Special Forces————————-$2,000
- Combat Pilots————————–$2,000
- Ranger Battalions Soldiers———-$1,500
- Airborne Infantry———————$1,000
- Infantry——————————–$750
- Field Artillery————————–$650
- Cavalry———————————$650
- Armored Vehicles———————$650
- Engineers——————————$650

Fat Boy Program!
I’ve witnessed some good soldiers get kicked out of the Army because they failed to meet Height & Weight Standards. They already exceeded the standards of their duty assignment and their MOS and were still kicked out the Army.
Send soldiers who fail Height & Weight Standards to a special unit that focuses on:
- Special calory-restrictive diets
- Physical Training 03-times a day, 06-days a week that rebuilds their body and burns fat
- Daily Counseling
- Daily Weigh-Ins
- Daily Calls to Unit and Family
- Consequences of failing the Fat Boy Program course
- Consequences of failing to meet Height & Weight Standards after passing Fat Boy Program
This special unit – Fat Boy Program is 08-weeks in duration. Plenty of time to get the soldier in great physical condition and meet the U.S. Army Height & Weight Standards.
And one more thing. No ‘Shark Attack’ in the Fat Boy Program. It’s not necessary. Those soldiers are already greatly motivated to lose the unwanted weight to stay in the Army.

Mess Halls!
Food is a great MORALE BOOSTER. If you screw with the soldier’s food and try to make it healthy for them, the TASTE OF THE FOOD goes to crap. Then you got GIs going off post, spending their hard-earned money on fast-food restaurants.
Several years ago, I remember a Sergeant Major of the Army wanting to get rid of all the Friers (is that what they are called???) and want to replace them with Air Friers. C’mon SGM, are you their Mother? LEAVE THE GIs FOOD THE F$%# ALONE.
Those spoons are good at what they do. Cooking-up some tasty vittles for them hungry GIs. I still remember the Breakfast Meals in the messhall. They were always super tasty. MMMmmmmm MMMmmmmm MMMmmmmm!!!!! To this day, the only thing I never ate was them grits. But them soldiers from the south LOVED EM!
So Bottom Line, for the improved morale of the troops, improve the meals in all the mess halls across the U.S. and the world.

Fix The QMP!
QMP stands for Qualitative Management Program. The QMP board decides which soldiers are deserving of leaving the Army. The current QMP rates soldiers on their positive progressive progress while at their units. Any derogatory information in their 201 File is an automatic disqualification for re-enlistment. Failing to progress in rank also marks the soldier to leave the Army at the end of their enlistment.
There are soldiers that are EXCELLENT at their MOS (military job). However, as far as being a military leader and progress in rank, they want nothing to with being Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), much less being a Senior NCO.
