How I’m Repairing My Foundation In My House!
Because of an unknown long term water leak in my crawlspace, parts of my foundation slowly rotted away and caused my foundation to weaken and collapse.
–
July of 2022, I called one foundation repair company for an estimate to fix the foundation problems in my house. He never went into the crawlspace but looked under the hallway from a room that had already completely collapsed. The 02 backrooms were still upright and solid. He stated multiple times that those 02 backrooms will collapse in about a month. A month and almost a year went by and both backrooms are still solid.
–
Anyway, at the end of his inspection he gave me an estimate of total costs – are you ready? He gave me an estimate of $100,000.00 to:
- raise-up & level the entire foundation (1,500 square feet)
- sister-up most or all the beams
- encapsulate the entire crawlspace

He stated he would call back to see if I had the money to get the job done. He never called back. August of 2022, I called another foundation repair company for an estimate to fix the foundation problems in my house. This different guy from a different company gave me an estimate of $66,000.00.

Hey, I’m 110% for any American company to make a profit. That’s business. That’s the American Way! But $60,000 – $100,000 to repair my foundation? I’m out to prove that I can repair my own foundation for a small fraction of their high estimated costs.
–
So late August of 2022, I decided to attempt to do it myself. I purchased:
- cinderblocks
- 4” X 6” X 8’ beams
- bottlejacks (each rated at 20,000 pounds)
- stands
–
My first initial attempt was derailed by some sickness I had. I coughed non-stop day & night for almost 03 ½-months. I thought I had COVID. I took the test and it came out negative. So I don’t know what I had.

So now it’s cold and it’s getting colder. I know better than to be messing with lumber that’s freezing cold. I waited till the weather warmed-up. It is now 30 May 2023 (Wednesday) and tomorrow (01 June 2023 [Thursday]) will be my attempt to fix my own house foundation.
–
I would NOT ADVISE anybody to fix their own house foundation. The work is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS and usually takes an experienced qualified crew of 06 to do the work.
–
Starting 01 June 2023 (Thursday), I will make an almost daily update of my progress in fixing my house foundation and saving $66,000 – $100,000. I also add photos to show my progress (before and after pictures).

24 June 2023 (Saturday), SORRY for the great delay. I had to put off the work on my foundation repair. A lot of internet stuff came up like a NEW Survival Book that I’ve been working on for a year (“19 Lone Survivors”). I’m trying finish and publish it next month (July 2023). PLUS, I’ve been working on and still am – 03 Audio Books. The 1st one, “14 Anytime Anywhere Survival Newsletters!” is already published. PLEASE come back in July 2023.
–
MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: Again, I am NOT advising anyone to work on their own foundation in their crawlspace. The work is DANGEROUS. Myself, I have ZERO experience in foundation repair. I’ll be using a lot of common sense, copying what is already structured in the crawlspace, and taking a lot of precautions to prevent from being killed.

01 June 2023 (Thursday): I donned my work clothes and headlamp. I crawled in my crawl space to my kitchen area. On the south side of the kitchen, several beams were leaning and collapsed to the ground and 02 beams completely broken off. This is the site that I’ll start to raise. The 02 beams that are completely broken off, I replace them with new beams. I may have to sister-up (re-enforce) all the other beams.

02 June 2023 (Friday): No work done today.
